PAST SERVICE EVENTS
In Honor of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week
Reflecting on Thanksgiving through an Indigenous Perspective
(Fall 2024)
Hosted by the Office of Campus Organizations and Volunteer Programs and College Corps, in collaboration with the American Indian Student Association at UCI, ASUCI Anteaters in Action, ASUCI Food Security Commission, and Circle K. At this event, participants volunteered at the OC Food Bank packaging canned food, and later engaged in a discussion about the historical and cultural context of Thanksgiving through the lens of Indigenous cultures. The purpose of this event was to emphasize the importance of acknowledging Indigenous perspectives, and helping students explore the connections between food justice and Indigenous history.
Giving Farm Service Project
(Fall 2023)
In honor of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, join the Office of Campus Orgs & Volunteer Programs and College Corps in collaboration with By Any Means (BAM) for the Giving Farm Service Project to help plant winter crops, learn, and discuss more about the problems surrounding hunger and homelessness in Orange County with the UCI community.
CRECE Urban Farms – Honoring Indigenous Caretakers of the Land

Join the Office of Campus Organizations & Volunteer Programs in a service-learning project in collaboration with UCI Latinx Resource Center, American Indian Student Association at UCI, and College Corps to do service with CRECE Urban Farms of Santa Ana, CA and engage in conversation about nature, cultural preservation, and indigenous communities today, through the lens of Matthew Teutimez, a Gabrieleño tribal biologist.
Period Poverty Project
(Spring 2024)
In honor of Menstrual Hygiene Day, join the Office of Campus Organizations and Volunteer Programs for a Period Poverty Service Project. Come by and learn about menstrual health and equity through a national and global lens while doing service by helping us pack menstrual hygiene kits to donate to local non-profit organizations.
Laura’s House Service Project

Join the Office of Campus Organizations and Volunteer Programs for a volunteer shift at Laura’s House in Aliso Viejo. Engage in sorting clothing donations while learning about the organization’s impact, services, and domestic violence in our society.
Peter’s Spring Service Event: “Let’s Box Hunger”
(Spring 2023)
Join the Campus Organizations & Volunteer Programs in collaboration with the Cross-Cultural Center for – “Let’s Box Hunger: Peter’s Spring Service Event”, a service learning project at the Orange County Food Bank where we will pack boxes of food for the local community. Following the service event, we will gather to learn and discuss food insecurity with a specific emphasis on the relationship between food and culture. We are very excited for our UCI community to come together to serve our community!
Garden with Gratitude
(Spring 2023)
In collaboration with UCI College Corps, Sustainability Resource Center and the ASUCI Garden Commission, Campus Organizations & Volunteer Programs presents “Garden with Gratitude,” a service event where we will engage in self-care while doing community service. Together we will be gardening in the Arroyo Vista gardens. After gardening, attendees will receive a FREE succulent; make sure to bring your own container!
