“Make it a day on, not a day off”

In honor of MLK Jr. Day, MLK Day of Service is a tradition for Anteaters to continue Dr. Martin Luther King‘s legacy through service to the community. In years past, Anteaters have volunteered in packaging non-perishable food items into boxes to be sent out to families in need around Orange County. Participants engaged in discussions about the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to the passage of humanitarian rights. The purpose of this event is to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by serving our community, and giving students the opportunity to contribute to turning MLK Jr.’s vision of a world without poverty, hunger, and hate into a reality.

The MLK Jr. Day of Service is presented in collaboration with OneOC, Orange County Food Bank, UCI Cross-Cultural Center, UCI  Basic Needs Center, UCI Student Life & Leadership, and UCI Transportation and Distribution Services.
